Where FCI Fairton Releases Go
A custody episode at Federal Correctional Institution Fairton can end in several ways. The person may complete the federal prison term and leave BOP custody, move to a Community Corrections Management placement, transfer to another BOP institution, or pass to another law enforcement or correctional system. A person can also leave prison while beginning federal supervised release. That is a federal post-custody status and differs from New Jersey parole.
The key is to describe only the system that the record proves the person left. A BOP result marked Released or Not in BOP Custody proves departure from BOP. A later federal court docket can explain the sentence and supervised-release term, but it may not reproduce the BOP departure event in the same format. Keep the locator result and court record in their proper roles.
FCI Fairton Is Federal Custody
FCI Fairton sits in Fairfield Township within Cumberland County, yet geography does not transfer control to Cumberland County Department of Corrections. The county's incarcerated-person gateway covers the Cumberland County Jail. NJDOC covers South Woods, Bayside, and New Jersey state sentences. Neither system should be expected to show an ordinary federal sentence served at Fairton.
This system boundary matters after release. A federal result may be followed by a state warrant or sentence. A state-prison result may be followed by a federal detainer. A county booking may involve a federal pretrial matter even when BOP has no completed-sentence record. Why FCI Fairton Dates Change

The public result can therefore change as the federal calculation is reviewed. “Unknown” means the term has not been determined, not that release is imminent.
A past date has a narrower meaning. If no facility is listed, BOP says the person was released from BOP on that date. Still, federal supervised release may begin and another sovereign may take custody. Read the historical event first, then check the legal state that follows it. This keeps a valid release date from being overstated as full discharge.

Include the custody dates or sentencing court when known. A narrow request helps BOP distinguish the relevant confinement from an older federal history and makes clear that the sought record concerns release or movement, not a new agency investigation.

Cumberland County has a dense mix of correctional systems. The county jail stands near the Bridgeton courthouse. South Woods and Bayside are NJDOC prisons.
